The School of Rough Floating at Great Lake Kläggen
In the middle of Scandinavia there's a lake
called Great Lake Kläggen. It's been there since the Ice-age. My childhood memories, on cold water, are connected to this particular lake.

So; The adults brought us to a swimming school at Great Lake Kläggen. Trained us in the basic techniques of swimming. Some kids could move fast in the water. I moved slow, more like some kind of rough floater. But I was satisfied. Keeping my nose clear in wet and muddy environments, without sinking, was good enough. And you know, rough floating is CO2-neutral and less complicated than sex. What more could you ask for?

After a couple of years they honored us with a Diploma at the swimming school. Late August, 1980. I remember it very clearly. All us kids, standing there on the beach. No orchestra with horns, no great speeches or weird caps with colored tassels. Just the northern wind, carrying rain made of ice, barb wire and broken glass. Our teacher Gunnel handed over the diploma. I was 8 years old, cold and shaking, with my shrunken dick full of sand down in my green swimming trousers. Years of hard training had finally paid off. Now I could float real good, and It was a beautiful day.

WATER TAKE YOU COOL PLACES. WHEN YOU FLOAT.
